Hendrik originates from Holland,In 1991 he packed up his household and his belongings and relocated to the Caribbean.

His wife is Arubian and the decision to come to the Island was jointly made.

They has been busy ever since building a Spanish flavoured home in Aruba to accommodate his family, atelier and workshop.

Hendrik by profession an antique restorer prides himself on his unique ability to turn the old and damaged into “new-valued treasures”.

In Holland he worked for art collectors as for instance Unilever Corp. and local governments and museums. He worked on 17th century Dutch furniture, 15th century porcelain, he restored paintings and Greek and Roman ancient art.

In the meantime, he painted realistic dreamlike paintings of people and things happening around him.

In Aruba he started to work as a professional artist who worked “au Public” in the heart of Aruba’s Renaissance Hotels and Mall’s, where he painted his beautiful miniatures, portraits and modern art paintings.

He sells his paintings directly to collectors of fine Art, and those who pass by at his Studio in Picaron or as at the moment from his studio at the  Renaissance Mall in Oranjestad.

Hendrik has a very positive outlook on life which is shown in the brightness and light of his paintings, they show a serenity and clarity which others seem to find too difficult to copy.

Although the way how he works is no secret, since he is working “an public” in his  large studio, at the Renaissance Mall.

In this studio he also gives art classes to local “to be artists”, and provides walk-in art lessons for visitors of our beautiful island so they can try to capture the beauty of Aruba, or to learn some of the techniques Hendrik uses

He works with oil paint and acrylics, with fine pencils or painting knives with a pallet of bright colours in contrasting combinations or fine layers of  paint to achieve his goals.

In his Art Studio you will find a variety of paintings, from fine realistic painted portraits to very large colourful portraits, arubian landscapes, contemporary art and large abstract works or scenery paintings.

Hendrik wants to do what he does best, Paints Art, Restores Art and make Art for a living and sell for a reasonable price that will make everybody involved happy.

So visit his art studio at the Renaissance Mall and when you see the beautiful paintings, you know you have found Your original piece of art painted

“BY HENDRIK”.

We hope you like to invest in one, as a sweet memory of our your visit to our “peaceful” island Aruba, a memory you will see, remember and treasure for the rest of you life.
